very short version

you've made the promises to change. tried, failed, and still find yourself exactly where you started.

When I first got into personal development, I was really fascinated by this idea of becoming the best version of myself. Like, what does that even look like? How do you get there? Is there a limit? These questions felt super meaningful to me, so I dove into books and searched all over the internet for answers. What I found became the foundation for Klyfta.Klyfta is basically an app that makes self-improvement simple. It helps you do two main things: figure out who you want to become and, interestingly enough, who you really don't want to become. Why define your worst self? Well, it actually gives you more motivation to move fast. Plus, it makes sure you clearly know what behaviors would lead you away from your goals, stuff like drinking too much, doing drugs, not eating healthy, all the things that would basically ensure you get eaten by the cat instead of reaching the cheese.

Here's how I think about it: you're like a mouse, and Klyfta helps you see the cheese in the distance. That's your ideal future self, and it's motivating because you like what you see. But life gets complicated, right? You get older, maybe meet someone special, have kids, and suddenly that journey to the cheese becomes way harder. That's where the second part comes in. Klyfta also defines the cat chasing you, that worst version of yourself. It creates this urgency that keeps you moving toward the cheese instead of getting stuck along the way.

This vision setting stuff is just the foundation though. Klyfta doesn't just leave you hanging after that. The app comes packed with all sorts of tools to make sure you actually reach that cheese: features for building good habits, tools to help you focus, and really everything you need for successful personal development. It's all about making sure you have whatever you need to actually become that future self you're aiming for.

And I'm not just making this stuff up. The core features of Klyfta are actually supported by real research. A study from the Journal of Personality (Hong, E. K., Zhang, Y., & Sedikides, C. (2024). Future self-continuity promotes meaning in life through authenticity. Journal of Research in Personality) found that people who felt more authentic reported significantly greater meaning in their lives, supporting our focus on defining your authentic future self. Even more relevant, research from the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (Finnie, R., Poirier, W., Bozkurt, E., Peterson, J. B., Fricker, T., Pratt, M. (2017) Using Future Authoring to Improve Student Outcomes. Toronto: Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario. ) showed that students who completed a "Future Authoring" program had lower dropout rates and higher GPAs. This directly validates our approach of having users define their future selves as a way to improve real life outcomes. So when Klyfta helps you map out both your ideal and worst case futures, it's using methods that science has shown actually work.
